Postcards from France, World War I

We have just uploaded a series of World War One postcards to the archive. Mr Terry Gale kindly loaned these images of postcards written by his grandfather Robert John (Jack) Huxter (pictured) and great uncle Henry George (George) Huxter. Jack Huxter lived at 73 Penhevad St, Grangetown, Cardiff, and his brother George at Cadoxton, Barry. Jack was serving with the Army Service Corps (later to become the Royal Logistic Corps) in France when he sent these postcards home to his wife Bess and two daughters Doreen and Barbara. The postcards are beautifully hand-made with silk embroidered inserts and coloured felt. They can be seen on the archive view in entries 227 – 229.
